Senior Leadership Camp

June 14-18

At Arrowpeak for youth ages 15-19 years.

Cost is $50 for MFU members and $105 for non-members.

 

Teen Leadership Camp

July 20-24

At Arrowpeak for youth ages 13-15 years.

Cost is $50 for MFU members and $105 for non members.

 

Junior Leadership Camp

June 28-July 2

At Arrowpeak for youth ages 8-12 years.

Cost is $50 for MFU members and $105 for non-members.

 

Hill County Farmers Union Camp

June 5-8

At Camp Kiwanis outside of Havre, MT

For youth ages 9-14 years.  Cost is $75.

For children ages 5-12. 

No Cost to participants.

Youth Achievement Awards

for Montana Farmers Union

 The Montana Farmers Union is a statewide grassroots organization working for family farmers, ranchers and rural communities through conferences, scholarships and other educational opportunities as well as legislative representation and support for producer-owned cooperatives. 

Montana Farmers Union would like to recognize the valuable contribution that our youth have made to Montana. The following is a list of awards and eligibility requirements. 

 

 

 

Peanut Achievement Award                                         

               Ages 6-8                                

              1. One community service                                    

              2. Attend one local or county meeting

              

Junior Leader Achievement Award                            

               Ages 8-15                         

              1. Attend Junior/Teen camp                                

              2. Community service                         

              3. Attend two local and/or county meetings, state or national meetings  

              4. Special project                

             

Senior Leader Achievement Award                           

           Ages 15-19 (choose six)                         

          1. Counselor for Junior camp                    

          2. Attend three local or county meetings, to include state or national meetings                                 

          3. Complete two special projects         

          4. Senior youth advisory council                                    

          5. Attend state annual convention                     

          6. Write to a legislator                                               

          7. Attend Senior camp

 The Torchbearer Award

The highest award given by Farmers Union to senior youth is the Torchbearer award.  A Torchbearer is defined as:  One who imparts knowledge, truth, or inspiration to others. It is a great honor and achievement to be a Torchbearer.  Farmers Union youth who are 18-21 years old and have met the necessary requirements are eligible to receive the Torchbearer Award. 

Mildred Stoltz Leadership Award

At Arrowpeak and Hill County Junior camp, Youth Leaders decided together upon two youth (4 total) who will receive this award.  Winners are chosen for their membership to MFU, a positive attitude, people skills, kindness and sensitivity, good verbal skills, and a good understanding of cooperative principles.

Leadership Programs

State Youth Advisory Council (SYAC)

SYAC is a group of young adults selected to help plan, organize, brainstorm and assist in the implementation of the upcoming summer camping program which includes theme nights, camp projects, crafts, camp souvenirs and other activities.  SYAC members are required to attend two weeks of camp.  They will host the Senior Leadership Camp and choose to host either the Junior Camp or the Teen Leadership Camp.  Other responsibilities will be:

1. Assist with the MFU Annual State Convention by giving presentations as requested and helping with convention day camp.

2. Assist with other projects as they pertain to youth education/activities that may arise during the year.

National All-States Leadership Camp in Bailey, CO

National All-States is hosted in Bailey, CO by National Farmers Union.

This week is designed to define leadership skills, generate informed decisions for future goals and assist campers in developing a personal philosophy. Youth meet peers from other states including: ND, KS, WI, CO, WY, SD, MN, IL, OK.

 

All-States Leadership Camp Requirements

·    Youth who have completed their junior year in high school

·   Youth who have earned a minimum of two years of Montana Farmers Union Achievement Awards.

·    Youth ages 17-20
