Montana Farmers Union Hires Education Director

GREAT FALLS, MT (Nov. 3, 2006) – The Montana Farmers Union (MFU) has hired Sonny Harrell as its Education Director.  Harrell previously worked for Montana Farmers Union in several capacities as both Coordinator and Director for the “Dislocated Farmer Program,” and as the Membership/Adult Education Director.

“We are happy that someone with Harrell’s background and experience with Farmers Union is returning,” said MFU President Alan Merrill.  “Our ongoing educational programs for members of all ages will benefit from Harrell’s experience and knowledge.”

Harrell returned to Montana from his native state of Alabama a little over a year ago.  After a 6-year absence, he wanted to be more actively involved in his children’s lives.  He had previously lived in the Fairfield area for many years.

Harrell has been involved with Montana’s youth through various avenues.  He has served as the Area President for the Boy Scouts, as Scout Master, as the community fund raising chairman for United Way, and he officiated high school football and basketball for several years.

Harrell began his work for the Montana Farmers Union October 24, 2006.
