Ralph Parker Memorial Scholarship Presented to Montana State University

GREAT FALLS, MT (Nov. 3, 2006) – Ethel Parker, Fort Shaw, presented a $5,000 scholarship check to Dr. Robert Gough for the College of Agriculture at Montana State University (MSU), during the Education Luncheon of the Montana Farmers Union’s 91^st annual meeting and convention October 28, 2006.

This scholarship presentation marks the 14^th time that scholarship funds have been presented to MSU, which will use the funds for higher education scholarships for students enrolled in a cooperative business curriculum at the university.

Every summer a memorial golf tournament has been held to raise funds for the scholarship. The tournament is planned and hosted by the following organizations: Farm Credit Services, Montana Farmers Union Insurance, Mountain View Co-op of Great Falls, Montana Electric Cooperatives’ Association, Montana Telecommunications Association, and the Montana Farmers Union.

The event honors Ralph Parker, a long-time farmer and dairyman, who was instrumental in establishing electric, telephone, marketing and supply cooperatives in central Montana.
