Academic Scholarships Awarded by Montana Farmers Union
GREAT FALLS, MT (Nov. 3, 2006) – The Montana Farmers Union (MFU) awarded two $500 academic scholarships at its recent annual meeting and convention. The scholarships are awarded based on the applicants’ scholastic achievement, school involvement, community service, and an essay describing their goals.
Raelee Bishop, daughter of Tedi and Todd Bishop of Brady, is the 2006 recipient of the Bud Daniels Scholarship. This $500 scholarship is awarded in memory of Bud Daniels who served as Montana Farmers Union president from 1989-1993. Bishop is a sophomore at Montana State University, and has worked as a summer youth leader at MFU for the past two camp seasons.
Erin Hagel, daughter of Michael and LaRae Hagel of Sidney, is the recipient of the Montana Farmers Union Scholarship in the amount of $500. Hagel has been an active youth member and attended National Farmers Union’s All States camp in 2006. She also is active in her church and community.
Both recipients have been active in all aspects of Montana Farmers Union youth programs for many years. Each received their Torchbearer Award, the highest MFU youth honor.
