Montana Farmers Union Honors Senior Youth with Highest Award
GREAT FALLS, MT (Oct. 26, 2009) – Two Montana Farmers Union (MFU) senior youth received the Torchbearer Award during the organization’s 94th annual meeting and convention at the Presidents’ Banquet in Great Falls on Saturday, October 17, 2009.
Tara Graves, Highwood, is a high school graduate and the daughter of Craig and Vivian Graves. Graves is a past MFU Senior Youth Advisory Council member, and was the MFU youth delegate to the 2008 National Farmers Union (NFU) convention held in Washington, D.C. and the Fly-In held at the same time. Graves also participated in the NFU All-States Camp in Bailey, CO, this past summer.
Libby Madison, Great Falls, is a high school graduate and the daughter of Larry and Diana Madison. Madison is a past MFU Senior Youth Advisory Council member, and also served on the National Farmers Union’s Youth Advisory Board (NYAC), where she helped plan the 2009 All-States Camp. Madison participated in the 2008 NFU Convention and the 2008 Spring Fly-In in her capacity as a NYAC representative.
The Torchbearer Award signifies many years of youth education in Farmers Union, and also acknowledges that the award recipient is developing valuable leadership skills. The Montana Farmers Union recognizes that its youth are Montana’s agricultural future, and is proud of the strong participation and contributions MFU youth make to the organization.
