Montana Farmers Union Honors Youth with Highest Award

 

GREAT FALLS, MT (Oct. 31, 2007) – Montana Farmers Union senior youth Andrew Bishop, Brady, received the Torchbearer Award during the organization’s 92nd annual meeting and convention in Great Falls, on Saturday, October 27, 2007.

 

Bishop graduated from Dutton/Brady High School and attends the University of Montana Tech in Butte, where he majors in mathematics and engineering and also plays football for the Orediggers.  Bishop lives on a fourth generation grain farm east of Brady with his parents, Todd and Tedi Bishop, sister, Raelee and grandmother, Doris Bishop.

 

The Torchbearer Award signifies many years of youth education in Farmers Union, and also acknowledges that the award recipient is developing valuable leadership skills.  The Montana Farmers Union recognizes that its youth are Montana’s agricultural future, and is proud of the strong participation and contributions MFU youth make to the organization.

 

The Torchbearer Award was part of the Saturday afternoon Education Luncheon where accomplishments of MFU youth are recognized and applauded.  Keynote speaker at the luncheon was Laura Johnston Monchuk, National Farmers Union’s education director.
