||
| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 27, 2004 GREAT FALLS, MT - Montana Farmers Union (MFU) urges the Senate and House homeland security appropriations subcommittee members to approve emergency aid for agricultural producers suffering the effects of weather-related disasters. "Many Montana crop and livestock producers remain in the grip of weather-related disaster," said MFU President Brooks Dailey. "We encourage the appropriations subcommittee to acknowledge these pockets of need that remain throughout the state and the nation, and approve this much needed emergency disaster aid." The amendment supporting disaster assistance was attached to the homeland security bill and now provisions of the House and Senate must be reconciled. "We appreciate the bipartisan effort of our Congressional delegation in working for disaster assistance for Montana," said Dailey. "Senator Baucus, Senator Burns and Congressman Rehberg all have gone to bat for the Montana agriculture producer." -30- |
