MFU to Hold Carbon Credit Meetings in Eastern Montana
GREAT FALLS, MT (Jan. 14, 2008) – The Montana Farmers Union will hold three informational meetings in eastern Montana to discuss the Carbon Credit program and answer agricultural producer questions about the next sign-up being offered by the Chicago Climate Exchange.
Liz Mathern, with the North Dakota Carbon Credit Program, will be presenting information about the newest carbon credit opportunities, including a special “hayland” sign-up open through April and the managed pasture program. Mathern emphasizes that all producers interested in the program should attend regardless of farm or ranch size.
There will be three opportunities to attend meetings:
February 6, 2008, Glendive, 1:30 PM at Hungry Joe’s Hall (formerly the Senior Citizen’s) at 323 East Barry.
February 6, 2008, Miles City, 7:00 PM at the Town & Country Club Golf Course, at the corner of Fourth and Eagle.
February 7, 2008, Baker, 9:30 AM at the Fallon County Courthouse, Planning Room, at 10 West Fallon.
Now is the time to meet Liz Mathern, who has been at the forefront of the National Farmers Union Carbon Credit Program, and have all your questions answered. Jim Sargent, Montana Farmers Union membership director, is the MFU contact on carbon credits and will be at the meeting also.
